INFRASTRUCTURE
- With an area of 78,440 Sq. km, the State shares its border with all North-Eastern States other than Sikkim
- It also shares its international border with Bangladesh and Bhutan. Geographically, the State is located closer to the growing ASEAN economies. Assam’s existing and ongoing infrastructural initiatives makes it the ideal staging ground for businesses aiming to cater to the ASEAN and BBIN markets
- Assam has an extensive network of road and railways which is being augmented (National Highways of 3834 km and State Highways of 2530 km). The State has also 2091.81 km railway network on broad gauge). Additionally, Assam has six operational airstrips viz. Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Lilabari, Silchar and Tezpur.
- As of March 2017, Assam had a total installed power generation capacity of 1599.65 MW, of which 364.7 MW is produced by State Utility.
State’s offering for the Investors
- The State of Assam in its endeavor to enable Ease of Doing Business, has implemented Single Window Clearance System which is a single window facilitation mechanism for investors.
- The Single Window Clearance System offers more than 450 G2B Services online and time-bound delivery of services.
USISPF Engagement
- In November 2017, USISPF hosted the Minister of Industries and Commerce Shri Chandra Mohan Potowary and Shri Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Information Technology in New York for an industry roundtable.
- In 2018, USISPF assisted the Assam Government with its first edition of Advantage Assam: Global Investors Summit.
