INFRASTRUCTURE
- Punjab has one of the best rail (2,100 km), road (64,000 km) and air transportation networks in India. The State has five upcoming and operational airports at Mohali, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Bathinda and Pathankot.
- It has one of the highest road densities amongst Indian States at 133 km per 100 sq. km. The road connectivity along with the network of airports will ensure that every corner of the State is readily accessible from across the world.
- The State is connected to all major cities through Indian Railways. Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Dera Bassi and Bathinda have dry ports (container freight stations/inland container depots) that facilitate imports and exports to and from the State.
State’s offering for the Investors
- The State has implemented the Central Inspection System (CIS) where unnecessary intervention of officials has been done away with.
- State has exempted white category industries from obtaining pollution related consents and Green Category industries are able to get auto approval for pollution consents based on self-certification.
- Punjab Government has allowed self-certification for Inspections under various Labour Laws for Startups, MSMEs, IT/ITES units etc., and for Boilers and Low risk buildings.
- In order to reduce the regulatory burden on MSMEs, Punjab Government has recently come out with the Punjab Right to Business Act 2019 wherein new MSMEs shall be allowed to start their business based solely on self-certification.

- In April 2020, USISPF held a webinar with Ms. Vini Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary of the Govt. of Punjab and CEO, Invest Punjab to discuss the business continuity plans of US-based players operating in Punjab and assured full support to address any on-ground challenge faced by the industry.
